Vision

Here we are with a common idea - Everything we do matters. Our actions make a difference. We can only go so far and do so much alone. Together we are a big bold noise for the empowerment of all women, everywhere.

We are free to act as never before. We are connected and fired up and we no longer need to act as individuals but together we can DO more.

Melding issues into ideas and actions, we employ our rich culture, our art and cinema, music and dance here in LA to address our concerns, expand our reach, evince the spirit of reciprocal enthusiasm!

We will reach across the gaps to build awareness and affect change to the betterment of women at home and all over the world.

2.12.12

The founder of the LA Chapter of USNC for UN Women is a visionary who saw the opportunity to connect the lives of local women & their endeavors to live the change they want to see in the world with the broader goals of
UN Women.

Community

We partner with public and private organizations and businesses here locally to create events to raise awareness and engage our community for the empowerment of women.

Through our signature programs and events, we seek to engage the broader LA community to the cause of women and girls.

GREATER LOS ANGELES CHAPTER

Call For Volunteer Applicants:
Conversation Friends for Refugee Women's Circle

Are you interested in ensuring the inclusion of refugee women by welcoming them to our Greater Los Angeles community, and helping them learn about this new environment and culture?

Our agenda includes having discussions of relevance to women who have just moved to Los Angeles and may have limited interaction with the community and opportunities to practice English conversation outside of their family/home environment. We also hope to offer opportunities for short field trips.

Requirements:

•  Cultural sensitivity, patience, tactfulness;
•  Ability to converse with someone who is just learning English, preferably based on experience working in multicultural or international situations;
•  Ability to arrange own transportation to/from volunteering site (we encourage using public transportation and carpooling).

Training will be provided. This is a wonderful opportunity to grow with our new project and give constructive input on its future. Students and people of all ages encouraged to apply.

Please send an email to the following email address; la@unwomen-usnc.org  And please describe why you are interested in volunteering and how your specific skills and experience will benefit our endeavor.

We look forward to reading your submissions!
