About Us

The U.S. National Committee for UN Women Chicago Chapter was founded in April 2014 with the goal of becoming involved in critical UN Women projects worldwide. The chapter is committed to raising awareness and funds through Chicago-based events and partnerships with local businesses, and actively supports UN Women's overarching efforts to:

  • Reduce feminized poverty
  • End violence against women
  • Halt the spread of HIV/AIDS among women and girls
  • Achieve gender equality in democratic governance
  • Support peace and security in areas of conflict

In additon, the chapter has also supported special UN Women initiatives including their work to assist female earthquake victims in Nepal, and the global HeForShe campaign for gender equality.

And if you decide to become a U.S. National Committee for UN Women member, you will be making both a contribution and a connection to women around the world, supporting crucial programs in countries where women's voices are silenced.

Be sure to select the Chicago chapter as your chapter on the sign-up page, and you will be connected to a warm, diverse and passionate group of Chicago-area volunteers working for change for women and girls. We'd love for you to join us!
