Women, War and Peace

“To bring a woman’s eyes to the telling of the story of war — to turn the camera around and place it in her hands — is to fundamentally alter the way war looks and sounds and smells,” says Abigail Disney, one of the executive producers of “Women, War and Peace.”

USNC-UN Women is proud to continue its partnership with ITVS and Fork Films to promote “Women, War and Peace,” a groundbreaking documentary series about women’s roles in conflict and peacebuilding. Historically, women have borne the brunt of the war but have had little say in peace negotiations or post-conflict arrangements.

Peace and security is one of UN Women’s 5 priority areas. UN Women bases its work on the landmark UN Security Council resolution 1325, which recognizes that not only must women be included in peace processes but that this inclusion improves the odds for sustainable peace.
