Support to UNIFEM: $50,000.
In November, the U.S. Committee sent $35,000 to UNIFEM. The money was directed to support UNIFEM’s Women’s Centres in Afghanistan, The UN Trust Fund in Support of Actions to Eliminate Violence Against Women and UNIFEM’s programs in Sudan. At the UN Luncheon on March 2, 2006, UNIFEM/USA presented a second check to UNIFEM in the amount of $15,000 for the UN Trust Fund. These contributions meet their goal as outlined in the Recognition Agreement to raise at least $50,000 annually in support of UNIFEM.

Classy Acts Benefit CD for UNIFEM/USA
UNIFEM/USA Vice President Judy Ramey presented the opportunity to receive 25% of the proceeds from a CD by jazz artists, Classy Acts, to benefit UNIFEM/USA’s advocacy, outreach and education efforts. A motion was passed at the December Board meeting for Judy to pursue this opportunity.
