Gulf Coast Chapter Events

U.N. Women-USNC, Gulf Coast Chapter presents Through Women’s Eyes, an international women’s film festival.  For the second year, TWE, will be partnering with the Sarasota Film Festival. The Sarasota Film Festival begins on April 8 and continues until April 17, 2011.

Through Women’s Eyes
will be presenting their films on April 9 and 10, and will include a filmmakers’s reception on April 9 at Art Center Sarasota.

The 12th annual presentation of Through Women’s Eyes (TWE) will feature independent documentaries, narratives and short films by women directors that increase awareness of the lives of women throughout the world. Go to www.throughwomenseyes.com for a history of this festival through 2009.

There are several opportunities to become a sponsor of the film festival, which are set forth below:


Benefactor – $500, receives 4 passes to all TWE films and the reception
Patron – $350, receives 2 passes to all TWE films and the reception
Donor – $200, receives 1 pass to all TWE films and the reception
Tickets for the reception only are $75.

Film passes are as follows:

One day pass — $40.00
Two day pass — $75.00
Pass to see TWE films anytime during the Sarasota Film Festival — $90.00
Per movie tickets – $10.00

This year 8 documentaries, 1 narrative and 6 shorts will be screened at the Festival, including one premiere — "The Price of Sex" – about sex trafficking in Eastern Europe.  A highlight of the Festival is always the filmmakers’ reception, which will be held on April 9 at Art Center Sarasota.  Tickets for this event are $75.
