Leading figures from Member States came together with representatives of civil society groups and multilateral institutions during the 68th UN General Assembly to discuss ways to accelerate progress on women’s and children’s health by the 2015 MDG-deadline and beyond. Speakers highlighted the advances some countries have made in increasing investment in maternal and child health, training health workers, and scaling up interventions such as immunization, treatment of childhood illnesses, malaria control and prevention and treatment of HIV.
