You are invited to join us at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 10th to picnic and mingle with members and friends of the USNC-UN Women Chicago Chapter! Bring your friends and any food or drinks you’d like for an evening of music in beautiful Millennium Park. This free social event is a great opportunity to learn more about the exciting events and activities our chapter has in the works. And if it’s your first time attending one of our events, it offers a fun, casual introduction to our organization and our members. The music featured includes Bassel and the Supernaturals, a Syrian-American band showcasing a blend of neo-soul and funk to draw attention to the crisis in Syria; and global superstar Youssou N’ Dour – featuring traditional Senegalese music and griot storytelling. A daring innovator and staunch protector of the unique “Dakar over groove,” N’Dour and his high-energy Super Etoile manage to fashion a sound which is both characteristically Senegalese and outward-looking, a contagiously exciting synthesis of musical languages. Please meet us at 6 pm at the back left corner of the Jay Pritzker Pavilion – look for the USNC UN Women Chicago Chapter banner. Note: a headcount on attendees is helpful, so please be sure to RSVP by email to: |
